KATAGMAN
35 times International Award winner!
This short docu-drama is an endeavour of love!
A unique narrative of Oton’s history, unlike any other form of story and history telling.
Founded in 1572, “Oton” in the Province of Iloilo is the oldest town on Panay Island, Philippines. Katagman transports us back into the pre-Christian pre-Colonial era with minute details. Throughout, history unfolds and is brilliantly narrated by a matriarchal figure, surrounded by some members of her family.
As he uniquely combines music, dance, fine arts and theatre performance, director and playwright RamonTenoso delivers a rich tale of dazzling cultural and historic richness, unique to this land. It dives pleasantly through a colourful 450 years and transcends from local to a global “sense of belonging”.
Peter D. Deocos played a vital role in co-directing, choreography and acting. British-Filipino director Ramon (Chie) Tenoso says: “Katagman” stands out for one simple reason: it is a colourful story, told by the locals and produced by Ogtonganons themselves! It an homage from our hearts to this amazing Province Iloilo.”
